How to turn an SRT file into plain text
Choose an SRT, VTT or ASS file. The cue numbers, timecodes and styling are removed, and the dialogue is kept in order. With timestamps off and line joining on, you get one readable paragraph.
Turn timestamps on to get a transcript with the start time of each line, which is useful for show notes, quotes and search.
Questions
Can I convert a VTT or ASS file too?
Yes. Any format the converter reads can be turned into text.
Does it keep speaker names?
Speaker names written in the cue text are kept. ASS speaker fields are not added to the text.
Can I turn text back into an SRT file?
Plain text has no timing. To create timed subtitles from audio or video, use Aivently transcription.
