Dual subtitles maker
Combine two subtitle files in different languages into one SRT with both lines on screen. Useful for language learning and review.
Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.
How to make dual-language subtitles
Choose the subtitle file in your main language, then the file in the second language. Each line of the second file is placed under the main line it overlaps most, and the main file's timing is kept.
Dual subtitles help language learners compare phrasing, and let translators and reviewers check a translation against the source while watching.
Questions
What if I only have one language?
Translate the file first with Aivently, then combine the original and the translation here.
Do both files need identical timing?
No. Lines are matched by overlap, so small timing differences are fine. Second-language lines with no overlap are left out.
Which players show two-line subtitles?
Any player that supports SRT, including VLC, YouTube, Vimeo and most TVs.
